The
TRIO Upward Bound Math and Science program is designed to strengthen the math
and science skills of participating students. The goal of the program is to help students
recognize and develop their potential to excel in math and science, and to
encourage them to pursue postsecondary degrees in related fields of study, and ultimately
move on to careers in math and science professions.
This
program will offer a six week summer residential program with intensive math
and science training and skill development; year-round counseling and
advisement; exposure to faculty members who conduct research in mathematics and
the science; computer training; and student-involved scientific research under
the guidance of faculty members and graduate students, who are serving as
mentors.
This
fall we will offer a one-time open enrollment for students in grades 9-12. Students must have at least a 2.5 grade point
average, be a first generation college student (neither parent graduated from a
4-year college), and/or from low-income household (a family of four annual
income of less than $36,900). Students must also be interested in pursuing a postsecondary
degree in math or science.
The students always choose an institute where they can have maximum projects and courses to they can click to read so this TRIO program will work as oxygen for the institute to increase their students.
